SELEX Sistemi Integrati awarded an 11.6 million euro contract for air traffic control systems in Senegal

SELEX Sistemi Integrati, a Finmeccanica Company, signed a contract valued 11,6 million euro with Saudi Binladin Group (SBG) for the supply of air traffic control systems for the Blaise Diagne International Airport in Dakar (Senegal).
Saudi Binladin Group won the tender for building the new airport. The agreement signed at Le Bourget Air Show includes a tower control centre provided by SELEX Sistemi Integrati equipped with nine workstations (two for the simulator), a control system for the air ground movements (SMR), radio and weather systems and an automatic system for digital communication AFTN (Aeronautical Fixed Telecommunication Network), naval aids and a double fibre optic ring for the communication. The supply includes also the necessary training courses of the Senegalese controllers and will be completed within June 2010.

SELEX Sistemi Integrati’ bid was preferred within the major European companies of the sector, for its well known capability to integrate the most advanced technical solutions its reputable experience and an absolutely competitive price.

The new Blaise Diane Airport will have an initial capacity of 4 million passengers per year and movements of 50.000 aircrafts expected in 2020. The Airport has been designed to replace the Sedar Sengor airport, will be located at 40 km from the actual one and it will be completed within July 2010.

The new airport will be equipped with SELEX Sistemi Integrati products that the Company will supply to cope with the increasing air traffic control requirements. Dakar is confirming its role as one of the mayor airports in West Africa
